Lou Gehrig was known for his mastery as a hitter and for his durability, which earned him his nickname "The Iron Horse". On July 4th, 1939 Lou Gehrig gave his famous "The luckiest man on the face of the earth" speech to a sold out crowd in Yankee Stadium. Shortly after he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
